Texas A&M baseball gets huge boost as LHP Ryan Prager announces his return to Aggieland; Prager was Aggie ace in 2024

No, Texas A&M baseball fans, you’re not dreaming. News doesn’t get much bigger than this for Michael Earley and crew.

Even after he was selected in the third round of the MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels—the 81st pick, to be exact—Ryan Prager announced today on social media that he will be returning to College Station for the upcoming season. Prager was the Aggies’ ace in 2024, notching quality outing after quality outing over the course of the season.

This is a massive development for Michael Earley and Texas A&M baseball. Prager immediately slots back into the role of a weekend starter, and the Ags likely have another spot sewn up with the transfer Myles Patton. Justin Lamkin and Shane Sdao are two quality options for the third spot, and both would be elite relievers as well.

This Aggie roster is really shaping up in a fashion not quite like anything we’ve previously seen in College Station. You wouldn’t be able to find many Texas A&M baseball fans who’d disagree with the notion that this is the most talented roster the Aggies have ever trotted out once opening day rolls around.

It bears repeating that this is a completely stunning turn of events given where the Aggies were only about three or so weeks ago. The A&M program looked dead in the water after Schloss left; it’s now looking more and more like the hire of Earley was a genius move by Trev Alberts and company.

Welcome back, Ryan! Let’s go win the whole thing.
