Jim Schlossnagle on Texas A&M baseball star Jace LaViolette's injury: "We'll see"

In the top of the sixth inning against Kentucky, Texas A&M baseball began to pour in the runs against the Wildcats. A total of five would be plated against Big Blue in the frame to account for the totality of the Aggie scoring in the entire game. As it turned out, it was more than enough.

A point of concern, though, was Jace LaViolette. The star player for the Aggies, and the hero of the previous game against Florida, grabbed his hamstring while rounding third. He came out of the dugout briefly in the following inning, but he was waved back inside and didn't see the field the rest of the game.

As concerns tonight's result, it didn't matter—LaViolette had made enough of a contribution, and the rest of the team poured in the necessary hits for the Aggies to get a comfortable win. Going forward, though, this is concerning. Already without Braden Montgomery, the Aggies can ill afford to lose LaViolette as well.

The prognosis from the coach was nonspecific, but it certainly wasn't gloomy.

These next 48 hours will be critical for LaViolette and the entire Texas A&M baseball team. If the Aggies are forced to play without him, they'll have to really dig deep. Of course, with the mental toughness this team has shown so far, I don't doubt they can do just that—but the prospects of the Aggies winning a championship down their two best players are not exactly bright.
