Texas A&M baseball set to compete in premier early-season tournament next season

Michael Earley and Texas A&M baseball will have quite the schedule to kick things off in his initial season as the Aggie coach. No stranger to big time early season tournaments, the Aggies are once again going to be in one of the top tourneys in the nation.

The Ags have once more been invited to the Astros Foundation College Classic in Houston's Minute Maid Park. Texas A&M baseball played in this tournament two years ago, but competed in the Globe Life Classic in Arlington last year. Vacillating between the two tournaments so as to keep a strong presence in both the northern and southern parts of the state is a good idea for the Aggies.

Also in the field are Mississippi State, Tennessee, Arizona, Oklahoma State, and Rice. Given that SEC teams do not play each other before conference play begins, A&M will be facing off with the latter three squads. It would be awesome to see a College World Series rematch early in the season, though.

Even so, these are three great baseball schools that the Aggies will be playing against. Texas A&M baseball will no doubt be favored in all three games, but these will be great contests to have on the ledger as out-of-conference games come tournament time.

To be the best, you have to compete in high level games. The Aggies will have their fair share of those in-conference, but being a part of premier tourneys like this one will help keep them right at the forefront of college baseball.
