Texas A&M basketball will face UCF for the first time this upcoming season
To open the 2024-25 season, Texas A&M basketball will face the Golden Knights of UCF in a home-and-home series. The series was announced yesterday by both programs.
The first game is set to be played in Orlando, FL on November 4, 2024. It will be played at Addition Financial Arena. The game at Texas A&M will be played in 2025. The times of tip-off have not been specified yet.
This will be the first time these two teams face each other, so it should be an interesting one. UCF is currently in the Big 12 Conference and finished 12th in the league this past season. They were 7-11 in conference play and were 17-16 overall. The Knights had some notable wins against 3rd-ranked Kansas and 23rd ranked Oklahoma. The team was led by junior guard Jaylin Sellers, who averaged 15.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and just over 1 assist a game.
As for Texas A&M basketball, they're coming off their third straight 20 plus win season and their second straight NCAA tournament appearance. The Ags finished 21-15 overall and finished 7th in the SEC.
Rightfully so, the Aggies were named in the "Way Too Early" top 25 for the 2024-25 season. They will have a lot of returning players, including Wade Taylor IV, Andersson Garcia, Solomon Washington, Hayden Hefner, Jace Carter, Henry Coleman III, Manny Obaseki, Rob Dockery and some others.
When it comes to scheduling games, Buzz Williams has the mindset that he wants to find the hardest competition out there because he believes that it will better prepare them for March. The Big 12 has been a great basketball conference in recent memory, and even though they're a recent addition, we'll see what UCF has to offer.
