Texas A&M basketball adds exhibition game vs. Houston Cougars to early 2024-2025 slate; Aggies rematch Cougars after two games last year

Not that there are many people who feel this way, but if you are a Texas A&M basketball fan who also loathes the Houston Cougars, last year would have been pretty tough for you. The Aggies lost two absolute heartbreakers to the Cougs in 2023-2024, including an overtime loss in the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

Lest the first matchup be lost to time, though, we should give a sentence or two to the valiant effort that Wade Taylor put forth in the initial game between these two squads. Down more than 20 points, no. 4 almost singlehandedly put the team on his back to win the game for the Maroon and White, but the comeback attempt fell just short.

That was a storyline all too familiar over the course of the season, of course.

Well it may be a Cougar team that looks substantially different, but it will be a Texas A&M basketball team that looks almost identical that will face off with U of H in an exhibition this fall. Recently announced by Jon Rothstein, the Aggies and Cougs will meet once more—this time, in an exhibition.

Being an exhibition, this won't go down as a game that matters for the Aggies' record. However, it will test the mettle of an A&M squad that has high hopes for the upcoming year. Many key contributors will have their swan song in the Maroon and White this season, and Aggie fans are hoping that much seniority means positive things for this A&M squad.
