Texas A&M football 2024 game-by-game predictions: A&M surprises in Elko’s first year
Texas A&M football at Auburn Tigers
I really wish the Auburn and Florida games were flipped on this schedule. They’re both orange and blue, so maybe no one would notice if we tried to pass that one off?
At this point in the year, I expect the Gators to be completely beaten down. By contrast, I think Auburn will have a lot of their pressing questions mostly answered (whether positively or negatively), and will be better prepared to face the Ags than they would earlier in the year.
Aggie fans who follow recruiting know the potential of a Cam Coleman, and I think he will be emerging (or already have done so) by the time the Ags roll into town. Plus, the Tigers will doubtless have a potent rushing attack rolling as well. I could see either Coleman or Jarquez Hunter making a big play to put up a quick six on the Aggie defense.
Will Payton Thorne still be the guy? Heck if I know! It’s possible Walker White has emerged as a better option by this point; I’m really not sure how much higher Thorne’s ceiling is than what we’ve seen thus far.
This will be really tough sledding for the Ags. Of course, this game comes the week before rivalry matchups for both squads, so maybe the Tigers will come out of the gate more sluggish than I expect. In any case, I don’t like the combo of geographic and temporal location for the Aggies in this one. They fall to 9-2.
