Texas A&M football 2024 game-by-game predictions: A&M surprises in Elko’s first year
Let's break down every matchup for Texas A&M football and see how they will shape up by year's end in Mike Elko's first season.
Texas A&M football at Mississippi State Bulldogs
I want to predict a blowout here. I do. But I just can't do it with Starkville in play.
Here are how the Aggies' trips to visit MSU have gone since joining the SEC:
- Johnny Football's magic lifts them to a blowout win in 2012
- Dak Prescott and Bernardrick McKinney shatter Kenny Hill's hopes and dreams in 2014 while the Aggies wear their worst alternate ever
- Trevor Knight goes down with injury and the Bulldogs win in awful Patriots knockoff uniforms for some reason in 2016
- The MSU DL strikes the fear of God into Kellen Mond and A&M en route to a weird, nighttime win for the Bulldogs
- The Ags win a game 28-14 that should have been 35-7, causing Mike Leach to put in Will Rogers for the first time
- Whatever happened in 2022 (I blocked it out)
That's not exactly an encouraging resume. Many times, the Aggies have been the favorites in Starkville, only to crash and burn. Well, I guess, most notably in 2016. Not sure they've been huge favorites at other times.
Jeff Lebby has a tough row to hoe ahead of him in his first year. Hopefully he can figure some things out when they visit Austin and then immediately forget everything he learned when they come back home to face the Aggies—who will be coming off of a bye, by the way!
Texas A&M moves to 7-0 and we can all be glad to be done with the Cowbells for another year.
