Days after opening the 2026 class with a safety commit, Texas A&M football has now added yet another DB to their junior recruiting class.

Texas A&M football adds second 2026 commitment in a week as CB Ryan Gilbert pledges to Aggies

In this time when most Aggies would be turning their attention to Texas A&M football, we've been consumed with all of the news surrounding the peak-valley-peak storyline of the Aggie baseball team. Even when the Maroon and White faithful do turn their attention to the news surrounding the gridiron, it mostly has to do with the impending season or upcoming recruiting class.

But Mike Elko and this Texas A&M football staff don't work on our clocks or schedules. They do things the way they do them—and that means, apparently, working way far ahead while the rest of us are gaga over baseball.

Yes, the Aggies have added their second 2026 commitment in less than a week. After S Markel Ford picked Texas A&M football on June 27, his former Mesquite teammante CB Ryan Gilbert announced today that he would be spending his college career alongside him.

Gilbert is a shorter, speedy cornerback who attends North Forney high school. As I mentioned, he used to play for Mesquite alongside Ford and 2025 Aggie target OT Lamont Rogers.

Gilbert is rated as a three star prospect at the moment, but it's hard to say if that is actually where he will end up. This far out from the final projections, there can be a lot of movement before rankings are set in stone.

The Aggies are once again announcing their presence in a big way up in the Metroplex after several years of lackluster results in that area. Two very early commitments from Ford and Gilbert shows that the Aggies once more want to make sure they are on the minds of every prospect in DFW.
