Texas A&M football commit Husan Longstreet impresses at Elite 11, wins MVP of day one

The current linchpin of the Texas A&M football recruiting class, QB Husan Longstreet of Corona, California, is at the Elite 11 this week. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Elite 11, it is an invitational quarterback competition for rising seniors held yearly at Nike’s headquarters in Oregon.

In other words, it’s where the cream of the crop come together to compete. Names such as Andrew Luck, Trevor Lawrence, Tim Tebow, Justin Fields, and more have all been through the Elite 11 in the past.

The field this year includes several four and five star quarterbacks, committed to Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State, USC, and others. Through one day of the competition, though, the leader has been the Aggie commit Husan Longstreet.

The signal caller and Aggie pledge looked to be a riser when he committed, and he continues to be on an upward trajectory. He has already jumped into fringe five-star territory, and it’s performances like these that can help him move into no-doubter status.

From all reports so far, it looks like he’s well on his way to receiving that designation as well.

Could Longstreet break into the top ten of the rankings with a big performance here? I think it's certainly possible. There's a great reason that Collin Klein handpicked him as a must-win recruitment for the Aggies, and getting him in the boat this early has already started to yield dividends.

The competition will continue for a few days before an MVP is named, but I think Longstreet has a great shot at it. With his astounding arm strength, underrated athleticism, and impressive accuracy on display for the nation, this could be a big inflection point for the Aggie commit.
