Texas A&M football makes top four for five-star TE Linkon Cure out of Goodland, Kansas; Can Aggies outlast the competition?

Texas A&M football has been doing a great job so far this cycle of getting their top targets in the boat early. Many of the top players on A&M's board have already pulled the trigger on verbal commitments to the Ags, as Mike Elko and his staff have been doing yeoman's work to get players locked in early.

With that said, however, the most high-leverage targets left on the Aggies' board, with a few exceptions, are still yet uncommitted. The Ags have five-star QB Husan Longstreet on their commit list, but most of their other targets that boast that rating have yet to announce.

At this point in the process, though, most of these targets are beginning to pare down their selections, and more often than not, the Aggies look to be sitting in a prime position. Such is the case with one of the top tight ends in the nation, Linkon Cure, who named the Aggies as one of his top schools last week.

The 36th-ranked prospect in the composite has been on the Aggies' radar for quite some time, but it was the hire of Collin Klein that really got the Maroon and White in the thick of things for Cure's recruitment. A Kansas native, he grew up watching Klein sling the rock for the in-state Wildcats, and he's therefore well-acquainted with the legend of the new Aggie OC.

I've been saying for a while that I think Klein's presence give the Aggies a fighting chance in this one. The aforementioned Wildcats will be a tough opponent to outlast, but the Aggies have a lot more to offer in every department except proximity to home. Cure doesn't yet have a decision date set, but Texas A&M football will continue to press hard for this one until he makes his commitment—and, if things don't go the Aggies' way at that point, even beyond.
