Texas A&M football makes top group for prolific DL Michael Riles from Southeast Texas

Texas A&M football, despite some transfer portal departures over the last couple of years, is still in an enviable position with regard to defensive line talent. The Aggies boast guys like Nic Scourton, Shemars both Stewart and Turner, David Hicks, and even slept-on potential stars like Rylan Kennedy.

This allows the Aggies to be a little picky with regard to their recruiting going forward, at least for this class. That said, Texas A&M is still in the running for some of the top talent at that position in the whole state, and already have one of that number in the boat in Landon Rink.

Now, the Aggies are beginning to close in with another top target, this time from the Golden Triangle. DL Michael Riles from Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas,

Riles ranks at 253 in the 247Sports Composite. Rivals has him as an outlier, placing him just outside the top 150, while ESPN has him down at 293. 247's in-house ratings has him at 216 in the country.

You can say whatever you want about stars, though: this is one productive football player. In his 2022 season, Riles recorded a whopping 24 tackles for loss. He appears to be quite the run-stuffer, as only 3 of those TFLs were sacks.

Looking at the other schools at the top for Riles, you have to like the Aggies' chances to get him in the boat if they push hard for his commitment. Somewhat humorously, On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine has Riles predicted at 35.8% to Houston and 31.3% to Texas—neither of which appear in his top group. Maybe we need to rethink that whole deal!

Riles brings a lot of potential. I feel confident that the Aggies, should they make this recruitment a top priority, will get him in the boat.
