Texas A&M football brings in two more defensive commits on the same day; Aggies' class now in top-5 nationwide
While the rest of us are muddling through baseball-related drama, this Texas A&M football staff has been absolutely killing the game on the recruiting trail. After landing top-70 LB Noah Mikhail only two days ago, the Aggies just brought two more defensive prospects into the fold in DT Chace Sims and EDGE Marco Jones.
Sims is a three-star DT prospect from the Houston area. Standing at 6'2", 280 LBs, Sims isn't highly-rated, but his tape shows a player with a high motor, short-area explosion, and prolific production. Though he's not an eye-catcher in the ratings, he certainly is when you begin to break down his film.
Sims was also being pursued by LSU.
The second commitment of the day was—stop me if you've heard this one recently—another one out of the Golden State. Marco Jones, a top-150 prospect at edge rusher, is one of the twitchiest, quickest pass-rushers in the nation. This one was a win over defending national champion Michigan and defending Sugar Bowl participant Texas.
Jones is also a big time baseball prospect, and is committed to play on the diamond for new Aggie skipper Michael Earley. The high-profile nature of the Aggies' recent College World Series run and the intrigue of the young gun now heading up the Aggie baseball program had to have played a big role here.
This is yet another huge national win on the recruiting front for Mike Elko and company. With these two commitments, too, the Aggie defensive line class jumps from one to three, with A&M still awaiting decisions from guys like Zion Williams and DJ Sanders. There are even more announcements incoming that are of interest to the Aggies, with Riley Pettijohn and Lamont Rogers set to commit soon as well. It's an exciting time to be an Aggie fan.
