Texas A&M football player issues bold statement to Texas: ‘Not gonna stand a chance’
OL Trey Zuhn, Texas A&M football captain, eminently confident that Aggies will beat Texas: ‘Bring everything you’ve got’
Probably the most hotly-anticipated game of the entire season in 2024 is the renewed rivalry between Texas A&M football and their in-state rival, Texas. That’s saying something, given that we have matchups like Georgia-Alabama on the docket this year, but I feel confident there is no other game this year that will have as much buildup.
The Longhorns will return to Kyle Field this year after a thirteen-year hiatus from the game. Each spurned the other at varying times during this period, precipitated by Texas’s ill-fated gambit to try to freeze out Texas A&M after the Ags left for the SEC, but we finally will see the two square off once more.
As such, you have plenty of talk about the game surrounding SEC Media Days. Today is the final day of the yearly event, and the Aggies have arrived in Dallas for their turn in the spotlight.
Coach Mike Elko will address the media from the podium later today, but he—along with captains Trey Zuhn and Taurean York as well as senior Shemar Turner—have already been booking some time with the gathered reporters. The topic of the game came up, as you would expect, and Zuhn had some strong words.
I love this. The team is embracing the spectacle that this game will be, and are eminently confident that they will emerge with a victory. There’s no doubt that this weekend will be circled far in advance for both squads, so I expect each team to show up in top form. There’s a lot riding on this one, and both squads know it.
