Texas A&M football player ranked as top EDGE prospect in early 2025 draft rankings
PFF ranks Texas A&M football EDGE Nic Scourton as top in position group for 2025 NFL draft
Without a doubt, the number one player that Texas A&M football fans are eager to see from the transfer class is EDGE Nic Scourton. The former Big 10 leader in sacks has returned home to play for the Aggies and Mike Elko, and he will no doubt be utilized to his maximum potential under the new A&M coach.
The expectations aren't just high around Aggieland, either. Scourton has begun to garner some early NFL draft buzz—as well he should. After all, he did lead the second-best conference in the nation in sacks last year—a conference that included two of the country's best defenses in Ohio State and Michigan.
In a loaded EDGE draft class, though, Scourton would have to really stand out to take the top spot. Tennessee sack artist James Pearce, Jr., and Georgia's Mykel Williams are two of the top names at the position with which Scourton will have to contend for the #1 spot in 2025.
As I said, though, the hype around Nic is growing, now at a fever pitch. Thus, these rankings today from PFF College:
Look, this is no mean feat. I know it's just a ranking, but like I said, this is a huge year for the top-end talent at the EDGE position, so for Scourton to be generating this kind of buzz is a big deal.
If he can live up to this kind of expectation, the Aggies could boast one of the top defenses in the entire nation. Elko is a wizard on that side of the ball, so I don't expect a slump from Scourton in the slightest. It's an exciting time to be an Aggie fan.
