Texas A&M football recruiting rumors: Aggies trending for impressive in-state CB Cobey Sellers

Texas A&M football is turning up the heat on their high school recruiting now that the spring portal is officially closed, and they are off to a great start with the 2025 class. The Aggies are well-positioned for many of the top targets in the state of Texas as well as the whole nation.

One position that should be a strength for Texas A&M football going forward under Mike Elko is that of defensive back. With the background of the head man for Texas A&M football being as a secondary coach, the position has been his specialty for quite some time—just look at the success he had with a guy like Antonio Johnson, for example.

One of the top targets for the Aggies in the secondary for the upcoming cycle is Shadow Creek CB Cobey Sellers. The corner from Pearland has been thought to be an OU lean for quite some time, but the Aggies have been right there in the recruitment.

That said, some rumors around social media began to crop up yesterday that the Aggies had pulled ahead in this race. Sellers announced that he would be committing on May 11th, and Aggie twitter was all of a sudden abuzz.

Not long after, multiple crystal ball predictions began to come in for Sellers to commit to A&M. These came in from the national level, as well as from reporters from both the OU and A&M side of things. Of course, these kinds of predictions need to be taken for what they’re worth when it comes to something as fickle as recruiting, but consensus from all sides like this usually bodes quite well for the team that stands as the benefactor.

There’s still ten days to go in this one, so you can bet that OU will do their best to derail things if they are indeed headed in a Maroon and White direction. I think this staff can weather whatever the Sooners throw at them, however, and I anxiously await Sellers’s announcement—I have a good feeling about it.
