Texas A&M football set to host massive amounts of top recruits for season opener
Texas A&M football setting up massive visit weekend with nearly 100 recruits visiting for opener vs. Notre Dame
There's certainly been some recent angst with regard to Texas A&M football recruiting. After all, missing on several five-star in-state targets was a gut check moment for Aggie fans, many of whom are feeling pretty down after that eventuality—even though the Aggies still have a top-10 class in the nation, of course.
But let it never be said that Mike Elko and this Aggie staff will be outworked. Not only do I have the utmost confidence that they will remain in on several of the top targets that the Ags missed out on during the first go-round, but they will remain relentless in bringing top talent to campus.
That work ethic looks like it's going to have a big payoff here with this upcoming weekend. The Aggies hosting Notre Dame is the biggest game of the weekend, bar none. The winner of this contest will likely have the inside track to get into the playoff (barring a 2014 South Carolina situation, of course), and due to those stakes and the huge number of storylines surrounding this game, College Gameday will be present as well.
All this adds up to a premier environment for the first game of the year. Elko and this staff are taking full advantage, as reportedly nearly 100 recruits will be in town to see the Aggies play.
I feel confident this will include many of the Aggies' top targets—in 2025 and beyond—including those currently committed elsewhere. The huge home environment at Kyle Field is one of the most potent recruiting tools the Aggies have: just look at what happened in 2021, with things like the Alabama game (not to mention South Carolina or Auburn).
So all that in mind, I wouldn't panic about Aggie recruiting quite yet. This, as well as three other massive home contests over the course of the year, will help pull in some top talent before signing day arrives.
