Texas A&M football will wear “Icy Whites” against Florida this weekend in the Swamp
It’s looking like Texas A&M football is once again going to be in the habit of rolling out alternate uniform combinations. The Aggies rocked a white helmet in the first game of the year—something they hadn’t done since Kevin Sumlin’s final year in College Station—and now, they are bringing back a highly popular alternate uniform.
The fabled “Icy Whites” that the Aggies used to wear as a regular combination had entirely fallen out of use under the previous regime. Aside from a throwback uniform in 2018, Jimbo Fisher never had the Aggies wear anything but their standard look in any game.
This came after years of having at least one special alternate per year, and regular mixing and matching of the white and maroon pants, jerseys, and helmets. It now looks like the Aggies are returning to those days.
This weekend, the Ags will wear the Icy Whites for the first time since 2017.
A&M is 6-4 in this uniform combination since 2012. Here are the games:
- Alabama 2012 (W)
- Oklahoma 2012 (W)
- Ole Miss 2013 (W)
- South Carolina 2014 (W)
- Alabama 2014 (L)
- West Virginia 2014 (W)
- Arkansas 2015 (W)
- Ole Miss 2015 (L)
- Louisville 2015 (L)
- UCLA 2017 (L)
An ignominious last few games!
The Aggies also wore all-white uniforms against South Carolina in 2016, but they were throwbacks. That game was also a win, so count it in this tally if you want!
Texas A&M football takes on Florida at 2:30 CT on Saturday.
