Tracking Texas A&M football portal departures: Walter Nolen - Ole Miss

When Nolen entered the portal, the thought was that his departure was one of the biggest losses on the defensive end for Texas A&M.

We've talked before on how the defensive line would answer without Walter Nolen. A highly respected recruit out of high school, Nolen had 66 total tackles and five sacks during his time with the Aggies. He'll be looked at as one of the best defensive linemen for one of the best teams in the land.

Nolen has not had to do much, after some pretty lopsided wins against Furman and Middle Tennessee. He has only recorded one solo tackle and three assisted tackles through those two games.

The Rebels will be looking for him to make plays on run defense once Ole Miss hits SEC play. He has yet to be a big factor for them, despite being one of the most celebrated portal pickups to come to Oxford.

The Aggies had some questions in the offseason about how they would respond with guys like Nolen hitting the transfer portal. Now, after looking at their game against Notre Dame, it looks as if they figured something out. Nolen may end up wishing he had stayed put, given how productive the Aggie line projects to be.
