Texas A&M football vs. Notre Dame full breakdown: Why Aggies will smack Irish
Three players to watch for Texas A&M football vs. Notre Dame
Conner Weigman
This one should be pretty obvious. The Aggie signal caller is getting preseason buzz as a possible first-rounder for good reason. His ability to pass the football, especially against pressure, will be very consequential in this game.
I’d keep an eye on how things may go for him in the designed QB run game. Klein featured that a lot in previous years up at Kansas State—does Conner, who was a great runner in high school, figure in there? Or will we see packages for Reed or Henderson?
Terry Bussey
As of right now, the role for the electric freshman on the offense is shrouded in mystery. It’s not even a sure thing at this point that we even see him take any snaps on that side of the ball, but I’d be more inclined than not to think that we do.
If he does get the ball in his hands, the Irish had better watch out. This is a guy with game-changing talent. I have to think that Klein will scheme up a way to get the rock to him at some point. He’s a huge play waiting to happen.
Nic Scourton
With the inexperience along the offensive line for Notre Dame, the Aggie defensive front has to be positively licking their chops. Chief among those who may benefit from this eventuality is Purdue transfer Nic Scourton.
No. 11 for the Aggies feasted in the Big 10 last year against teams with experienced, veteran offensive tackles; how much more, then, can we expect to see him wreck such a young offensive line? Watch for him to have a big evening.
