Final thoughts and predictions for Texas A&M football vs. Notre Dame

There’s not a whole lot of use in breaking down specific numbers for this matchup, especially since the Aggies have undergone such radical change in the coaching and personnel ranks, so I’ve omitted that piece of this breakdown.

I will say this, however: the ability of the Aggies to get to the quarterback early and often will be a decisive factor here, in my opinion. If they get Leonard rattled early, especially in front of the crowd that will be packing Kyle Field, it could be curtains for Notre Dame.

On the other hand, the Irish have got to stop the Aggie run game. They boast two fantastic corners, and my sense is that they will be relying on those two to limit the Aggies’ production through the air. If Weigman is still able to beat you—which I have every confidence that he can do, given his raw ability—then you just have to tip your hat.

I think I feel better about this Aggie defense versus the Notre Dame offense than I do about the Notre Dame defense versus the Aggie offense. There are simply too many weapons for the Ags—and I trust their coordinator more (Denbrock, in my mind, was buoyed by Jayden Daniels last year). The offensive line for the Irish is another concern.

With all that in mind, I foresee the Irish struggling significantly to move the ball, especially when the field gets shorter. Klein’s system has produced some extremely potent red zone offense, however, so I think it will be the ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities that will decide this one.

With that in mind, I’m going to stick with my prediction of a low-scoring game that the Ags end up winning by two scores—23-13 is my call. It may take a late touchdown for A&M to pull away, but I think this ends up being relatively decisive. BTHOND!
