Bold predictions for Texas A&M football in 2024: Aggies lead the conference in sacks

Maybe this isn't that bold of a prediction, given that the Aggies pulled off this feat last year. Even though some big names—like Walter Nolen—departed the A&M defensive line, the Ags may be set up even better to notch a notable number in this statistic.

Nic Scourton brings cache and skill. Shemar Stewart is looking to improve on a really strong close to 2023. Cashius Howell will be a third-down monster for this Aggie team.

It will start with the aforementioned huge game one. The Fighting Irish are being forced to rely on some very green offensive tackles (there's a pun in there somewhere, but I don't feel industrious enough to suss it out) in this first game, and that may end up going very poorly for them given who they're up against.

Of course, Riley Leonard is athletic and tough to bring down. But it's not out of the question that the Aggies could notch four sacks or more in that initial game. That would be quite the way to kickstart what I think will be a huge year for the Aggie pass rush—not just because of the personnel, but the man behind the scheme.
