Three huge overreactions to Texas A&M football's spring game: Nic Scourton will win SEC defensive player of the year

This honestly may not even be an overreaction. Scourton's dominance was nigh unbelievable today. Hardly a snap passed that he wasn't wreaking some kind of havoc on the White offense, whether that was against run or pass plays.

He played about half the time in the game, but he still notched 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. That doesn't even tell the whole tale, as he placed huge pressure on a couple of rollouts and redirected some plays where he didn't end up recording a statistic.

This performance came with him being the most threatening player up front on the entire defensive line. Imagine what he can do when he has guys like Shemar Turner, David Hicks, and Shemar Stewart playing alongside him on the line!

If this Texas A&M football team has as good of a defense as I think, then it will be in the conversation for best in the conference. Scourton has an extremely good shot to be the most dominant player on that defense. Add those two things together, and you'll have a solid case to be the SEC defensive player of the year.
