Three reasons Texas A&M football can decimate McNeese and appease Aggie fanbase
Three reasons Texas A&M football will exit the weekend with fans feeling better about Aggies' future
When you're coming off of a performance like Texas A&M football had against Notre Dame, and you're set to face off against an opponent like McNeese, it can be hard for fans to change their opinions. Most any success that the Aggies have will no doubt be chalked up—in some corners, at least—to the fact that their opponent is so weak.
Of course, perception and reality are two different things. Just because some fans might be too skeptical of the level of competition to believe the Aggies have made any strides doesn't mean that's actually the case.
That in mind, though, I think this Texas A&M football team can come out of this weekend with fans feeling a good sight more optimistic than they did previously. Here's three reasons why.
3 reasons Texas A&M football gets back on track vs. McNeese: Weigman regains old form
By far, the thing that fans are most disappointed in was the uncharacteristic performance by Conner Weigman. The level of play out of no. 15 was so jarring to fans that a certain crowd began to call for him to be swapped out after just one game!
Needless to say, that's about the worst move you could make one game into a new coaching tenure. What's better than shaking the confidence of your top guy right out of the gate after he has a bad game against the best defense you'll see all year?
I think with increased reps this week, against an opponent who's passing defense should seem much more friendly to a quarterback, Weigman will look once more like the QB who got fans so excited with his play last year. We've seen a lot of self-styled film experts breaking down Conner's mishaps from Notre Dame, but I think he gives them nothing but positives after this one.
