3 takeaways from Texas A&M football vs. Florida: Still a lot to clean up

Even though there were a lot of positives, there were a lot of negatives as well. The Aggies simply came out flat in the second half compared to the first, and did not look the part in quite the same way during the latter part of the game.

Of course, there was a certain amount of "run out the clock" attitude that needs to be factored in here. The Ags were dominating, and they looked like they just wanted to salt away the win.

Still, though, that doesn't at all explain the lack of execution defensively on some plays. The Ags left far too many crossers open that Mertz especially was on target with.

And it certainly does not explain the number of penalties the Aggies incurred. You can get away with that kind of thing against Florida, but usually that number of flags against you in a road game is a recipe for a loss.

There's a lot to build on here, but there's also a lot to correct. It definitely feels like this team has gotten better week by week, though, so I have confidence that Elko and company can get it done.
