Texas A&M football just took apart a top-10 team with playoff dreams efficiently and systematically. Let's talk about what we learned.

Three takeaways from Texas A&M football dismantling Missouri: Aggies are a real playoff threat

Texas A&M football is sitting at 5-1 right now, and 3-0 in the SEC. The early setback loss to Notre Dame seems like it was ages ago. The Aggies are headed into a bye week before heading to Starkville to play Mississippi State.

After the Bulldogs, they play LSU at home before heading to Columbia to take on South Carolina. Then, they have games against New Mexico State, Auburn, and Texas to close out the year.

There's a chance they are favored in every single game of that stretch. At the least, they should be favored in all but one.

Even at 10-2, they'll have a solid case to be in. It would be tough to leave out a SEC team that has that record in the 12-team playoff era. And it's worth mentioning, at 7-1 in conference they would be a prime contender for the conference championship game. At 8-0, of course, they'd be in Atlanta for sure.

This team looks different. They look disciplined and ready for the moment—like I said, the Notre Dame game is far in the past by now. It's not crazy to think that they will be a team often mentioned as a playoff contender as the season wears on.
