Texas A&M baseball players who need to step up to deliver a championship: Kaeden Kent

Working as a backup for most of the year, Kent has been thrust into regular action following the injury to Braden Montgomery in the super regionals. He’s been on something of a hot streak lately, kicked off by the dramatic grand slam against the Ducks to put the Aggies up for good in game 2.

Kent has batted over .300 in each of his games since being inserted into the lineup, and he’ll have to continue at a high clip if the Aggies hope to bring home a championship this weekend. The son of former big-leaguer Jeff Kent, Kaeden has not been cowed by the moment yet as the Aggies have been on this run; rather, he just keeps showing up.

Kent has played all over the field on defense when he’s been used this season, but he’s most recently been at second base, where he has made some impressive plays. It’s a big time luxury for this Aggie team to have a guy as talented as Kaeden who can come in when a Braden Montgomery goes down.

There are many more I could name—Gavin Grahovac, Justin Lamkin, Ali Camarillo, Hayden Schott—but these are three key players that I believe need to show up big for the Aggies if they want to bring home this championship.
