Three things Mike Elko must do for Texas A&M football to win 10 or more games in 2024

If Texas A&M football wants to succeed in 2024, the head man has to make sure these three things happen.

What Texas A&M football needs for 10 wins: #1 - Protect Conner Weigman

Your signal caller is the heart and soul of your team. Just by nature of the position, so much rides on what the man behind center is able to do for your team. The Aggies have the luxury of one of the most talented passers in the country on their roster—that is, if what we've seen so far from #15 is a fair projection of his talent.

I, personally, think it is. We would have had a much bigger sample size last year if it wasn't for an injury that sidelined Conner for the year in the first contest of SEC play against Auburn. This was the latest in a long and unfortunate line of quarterback injuries that the Aggies had dealt with, dating all the way back to 2021.

For continuity reasons, not to mention his considerable talent, the first thing Elko needs to make sure of is that Weigman is properly protected. Reducing wear and tear on a quarterback helps make sure he can get through a whole season without injury. I think the shifted offensive philosophy under Collin Klein, as well as the coaching improvement from Addazio to Adam Cushing, make the prospects bright here.
