TIME CHANGE: Texas A&M football shifts spring game kickoff due to weather
Texas A&M football shifts Maroon and White Game kickoff time to noon central
The highly anticipated spring game for Texas A&M football—the Maroon and White Game—is scheduled to kick off this Saturday. This is the last big milestone for Aggie fans after the season ends, all the way up until fall camp starts some 80 or so days from today.
As such, most Aggie fans will be glued to the TV once the game starts. The date of April 20th had been selected some time ago for the game to take place, but the time of 1 PM had been chosen more recently.
Now, it looks like that latter choice is having to shift by just a little bit. Due to forecasted inclement weather, the Aggies have chosen to move the start time up to 12 PM CT so that the game can still be played.
I'm glad they got ahead of this one. It would have been a huge bummer for game time to arrive, just for things to eventually be cut short.
There's still a bit of worry, given that storms in the area are currently projected to begin a little before noon. Some quick sleuthing online (read: going to weather dot com) reveals that scattered thunderstorms are projected for the morning, but thunderstorms are "likely" for the afternoon. Is this just a distinction without a difference? I cannot be sure. I am a sports writer, not a weather writer.
One thing we can be sure of: if there are high winds and the quarterbacks struggle throwing the ball, then we will descend into madness and chaos on the message boards for the next four months. Our offense will be doomed and Elko's first year will finish no better than 6-6. If Weigman gets 300+ yards, though, we are winning the national championship.
