College Gameday has not exactly hit it out of the park with guest pickers at Texas A&M football in the past. Here’s a helpful list of names that would work.

Best Gameday guest picker options for Texas A&M football: Robert Earl Keen/Lyle Lovett

There are not a huge amount of Aggies in show business, but two of the most popular, especially among graduates of the university (generally speaking), are the two Aggie country music stars: Robert Earl Keen and Lyle Lovett.

These two have been on the scene for quite some time—Lovett was even the subject of a Norm McDonald joke on Weekend Update ages ago—even rooming together in college, back in the 80s.

Being elder statesmen on the country music scene, either or both of these two guys would be a great pick for College Gameday. They're recognizable names that are affiliated with A&M in a non-sports capacity, which is sometimes what Gameday shoots for.

When Gameday visited App State a few years ago, they had Luke Combs on, who is a graduate, and it was a big hit. I think REK and/or Lovett, though they are not as big in the modern day as Combs is, would be a similar effect with the fanbase.
