Top five position battles for Texas A&M football in fall camp: Which returning players, transfers will step up at positions of need?

The optimism and buzz around Texas A&M football only continues to grow as we get closer and closer to the season. Some of the players that the Aggies have in place are garnering a lot of attention before games even kick off—namely, Nic Scourton and Conner Weigman.

Of course, if your two best players are at QB and edge rusher, you’re probably in good shape. The talent of these two guys is undeniable, which is why so many have them penciled in to start—for good reason.

There’s depth at these positions, though, as there is across the Aggie roster for the first time in a long time. At other spots, though, the depth makes it harder to project a clear starter. Of course, that’s what fall camp is for.

Let’s take a look at five positions that will be decided in the next few weeks.

I think we have a couple of studs slated to start at the receiver position in Noah Thomas and Moose Muhammad—and let’s not forget Jahdae Walker. That fourth receiver spot, though, is very much up for grabs.

This is the guy that will complement those top three when the Aggies go four-wide, or will be the first to spell one of them in a rotation. I know rotating receivers has been a foreign concept to A&M fans over the last few years, but I do in fact anticipate that happening.

Will Micah Tease take a step from year one to year two? Will Louisiana Tech transfer Cyrus Allen make his mark? What about the talented Iowa transfer Jacob Bostick, or the freshman Izaiah Williams?

I’m comfortable with any of those names as a fourth guy, to be honest. I’d keep my eye on Allen, but if this is the talent level you’re discussing as a #4, you’re in good shape.
