Priority WR target for Texas A&M football Kaliq Lockett sets commitment date of August 7

Texas A&M football has a chance to bring in some really high-level recruits during the upcoming cycle. With the prodigious level of talent in the Lone Star State for the 2025 recruiting class, the Aggies will have an in with a high number of elite recruits.

Thus far, Mike Elko and his staff have done a really great job of getting these top talents to College Station for visits and being right in the middle of many of these big time races. One of the key decisions in the state—and, for that matter, the entire nation—is that of five-star receiver Kaliq Lockett out of Sachse.

Lockett is a tall, lanky receiver who boasts plus speed and ball skills. He's the consummate wideout and will be an impact starter on any team that he chooses—and there are many who are after him hard. He announced today that he will be making his college decision among five finalists on August 7.

Lockett will choose from Florida State, LSU, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M football. This is a heavyweight bout if there ever was one in the recruiting world.

From all indications, this will be a Lone Star State battle. The Seminoles have impressed Lockett on several visits, as have the Tigers and the Tide, but signs point towards this one coming down to the Aggies and Longhorns.

This is one reason why this is a statement recruitment for Mike Elko and this Aggie staff. Outlasting the Horns in this recruitment would be pretty notable for this staff, especially given where each program was last year. I think there are a lot of people who are writing the Aggies off far too early based simply off of what happened with each team last season.
