Two key five-star targets for Texas A&M football set to announce commitment soon
In this lull before Texas A&M football kicks off in earnest against Notre Dame, recruiting is the topic of the day around College Station. Mike Elko and his staff have put together a very impressive start to this 2025 recruiting class and are in contention for a top-five finish if things go their way.
For that to happen, though, the Aggies need to close on some of the five-stars that they've been hosting in College Station throughout the spring and summer. This A&M coaching staff has done a stellar job of getting talent on campus, but they need to close out some of these recruitments.
They've done a decent job so far—guys like Husan Longstreet, Noah Mikhail, Kiotti Armstrong, and Marco Jones were all huge wins. However, they've also had some misses, like Lamont Rogers and Riley Pettijohn recently.
They have some more opportunities upcoming, as Michael Fasusi, a five-star OT from Lewisville, has set his commitment date for August 21.
Fasusi has had different schools as his leader throughout the process, but the discussion is centering around OU, who has always done a good job up in the metroplex, at the moment. I'd take it as a good sign for the Aggies if we see Fasusi push this date back—if he keeps it, I wouldn't be surprised to see it be the Sooners.
Another big time target for the Aggies, Michael Terry III out of San Antonio, is coming up on a decision as well. Terry profiles as a big time wide receiver, though he can play running back as well.
It has been reported that out of these four, Terry is down to the Longhorns and Ducks—which, judging by recent history, means he is headed to Eugene. The Aggies will need to make a run here as well if they want to land Terry's signature.
Things can change quickly in recruiting, but the outlook isn't great right now with these two. The Aggies still stand in a good spot with guys like Jonah Williams, but for this class to reach its potential, the Maroon and White will have to have a couple of prospects like this reverse their course.
