Noah Thomas makes two impressive plays to lead the Maroon team to a score in Texas A&M football's spring game
The offense hasn't been out of this world so far in the Texas A&M football spring game, but there have been some pretty big plays in spots. Two of those plays came on the same drive from returning receiver Noah Thomas, a guy who many Aggies have placed their hope in for this upcoming year.
Thomas is coming off of a year where he broke out in a huge way in game one, but was slowed by injury for almost the entire rest of the year. He scored three touchdowns against New Mexico, but was visibly hampered for the remaining eleven games on the schedule.
With his size, speed, and leaping ability, he projects to be a shoo-in for the starting lineup this year. He's making more and more of a case throughout spring practice, and has continued his stellar play into this game.
Up 14-3, the Maroon team, quarterbacked by Jaylen Henderson, needed a play to keep the drive alive. Things weren't looking great when the pressure got home, and Henderson heaved the ball deep. On the other end was Thomas, who made a catch over top of transfer safety Marcus Ratcliffe to put the Maroon team in the red zone.
Two plays later, the Maroon squad was once more in need of a big play. Facing pressure once more, Henderson knew well where Thomas was, and made a perfect pass right into the bucket.
The placement here is stellar by Henderson, but so are the hands and the extension by Thomas to make the grab. That is about as difficult of a catch as you can make, but he made it look easy.
Depth at receiver is a definite concern this spring, and this game hasn't done a lot to assuage those worries. However, Thomas's play so far gives them a guy who will be able to compete against anyone in the country.
