Predicting Texas A&M football's starting lineup - NB: Jaydon Hill

This is an intriguing spot in the defense this year. I liked a lot of what I saw out of Florida transfer Jaydon Hill in the spring game, and reports are that he is excelling in Elko’s defense, but there’s a fair amount of talent that could be deployed here.

This position in Elko’s scheme is one of the most important on the field—remember how key Antonio Johnson was for the Aggies in his time roaming the defensive backfield? While Hill profiles differently on a physical level, I think he can bring a similar tough-nosed mentality to the position.

Other names who could play nickel are Tyreek Chappell (who up until now has played corner for the Aggies), the aforementioned Dalton Brooks, and Vanderbilt transfer De’Rickey Wright. Wright is an interesting one, as his frame (6’4”, 220 LBs) means he could play almost a linebacker-hybrid role when he’s out there.
