Predicting Texas A&M football's starting lineup - CB: BJ Mayes, Dezz Ricks

This was a tough call, but ultimately, this is how I think this could shake out. As far as I’m concerned, Mayes has one of the spots locked down. He was one of the portal pickups that I was most excited about, and he played an impressive spring game. All reports are that he is one of the main guys to beat in the competition at corner.

The other spot is significantly murkier, in my mind. I ultimately settled on Dezz Ricks, who is possibly one of the most purely physically talented players on the roster in College Station, but there are several other guys who could lay claim to this spot.

Ricks was the top player in his class before he reclassified to 2023. He was at Alabama last year before transferring, but he didn’t often see the field with Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry ahead of him.

His natural talent will make him a tough out, but the Aggies have a lot of promising prospects at CB. Donovan Saunders is an intriguing name out of Cal Poly. Will Lee is a very talented cover man from Kansas State. Of course, Terry Bussey is a headline talent as well.

I feel confident in my pick on Mayes, but the other spot is fluid. I’d feel comfortable with several of these names ending up as the starter, but for now, Ricks is my prediction.
