Is there reason for Texas A&M football fans to begin panicking when it comes to WR recruiting in this cycle?

What's happening with Texas A&M football WR recruiting in the 2025 cycle?

Not too long ago, when evaluating the prospects for Texas A&M football at wide receiver in the 2025 class, there was no shortage of possibilities for the Aggies. The headliners were two in-state five stars in Kaliq Lockett of Sachse and Michael Terry of Alamo Heights. The Ags were never really in it for Dakorien Moore, but the other options seemed to more than make up for being out of that race.

Fast forward to today, though, and the in-state prospects look quite a bit bleaker. The Aggies have picked up commitments from Kelshaun Johnson and Tristan Norman, both of whom were priorities for this staff, but the top-shelf, five-star type of players from the Lone Star State are trending elsewhere.

Lockett, announcing rather soon, seems to be headed to Austin, while Terry could be headed up to Eugene. Is this just a big miss for the Aggies in this cycle?

I wouldn't be so hasty. It's been a miracle to make things as close as they have been with some of these high-powered offensive targets given (fair or not) what a point of national ridicule the Aggie offense has been over the last two years. A lot of players will need some proof of concept before they end up opting to go with the Maroon and White over other schools.

Even if the Ags miss out on both Lockett and Terry, though, this staff may have made some headway with a somewhat more unlikely target. Jerome Myles, a five-star receiver out of Utah, is reportedly considering the Aggies heavily after decommitting from Ole Miss. He's certainly a talent that would qualify as a headliner for this recruiting class if the Aggies were to land him.

The season can make a lot of things change on the recruiting front. Even if some of the top Aggie targets end up committing elsewhere, a solid showing from A&M in 2024, especially on the offensive end, can be eye-opening for recruits that are on the fence.
