Power ranking the SEC after week 3 - 2: Georgia

Well, Gunner Stockton really showed he could sling it against the Volunteers, but that game didn't really leave fans all charged up about the Bulldog defense. Tennessee carved them up to score 21 in the first quarter, but the Dawgs began to stifle things before the final period saw another eruption from Heupel's team.

In all honesty, Tennessee really had Georgia dead to rights. You never apologize for a rivalry win, of course, but the Bulldogs were, for all intents and purposes, dead in the water up in Knoxville. It took the yips of the Tennessee kicker to keep the Bulldogs' streak alive, and at this point, you have to wonder just when it will ever end.

Going forward for UGA, though, they appear to have found something on offense. The run game materialized in a big way against a front that has been rather stout so far this year. I liked what I saw out of Stockton's downfield passing, as he made some timely plays.

This wasn't an easy victory by any stretch. It showed which team has a culture of winning and which team is still getting there. It's hard to turn the corner, as Georgia fans well know, and Smart was able to stop the Vols from doing so this weekend. Sometimes, that's all you can ask for.
