Power ranking the SEC after week 3 - 1: Texas A&M
I'm not sure what there is to say that hasn't already been said in some column here, but the Aggies really woke a lot of people up with their victory on Saturday. In front of an anxiously-watching nation, Texas A&M won a heroic and gutty— not to mention crazy— game over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
ND may be 0-2 now, but they have a chance to rip off a huge number of wins here soon. Their schedule was a tad frontloaded with Miami and Texas A&M (both now in the top 10) as their first two games, but things will get easier from here and that win will continue to age well for the Aggies.
For now, though, this was quite the announcement by Texas A&M to the nation of just how exciting this team and offense is. The Aggie receivers absolutely shredded a Notre Dame secondary that is as good as any in the nation, and the team was able to make timely play after timely play.
This was a complete offensive performance, with the backs, TEs, OL, and receivers all playing their part to perfection. There's still something to be desired on the defensive end at this point, but they made plays when the time came as well.
As a direct result of this past game, Bill Connelly of ESPN now has the Aggies as the fourth-best unbeaten in the entire country— the best in the SEC. That's some high praise, and the Ags will have a lot to do in order to live up to it.
Texas A&M will have this upcoming week off before facing down the Auburn Tigers on September 27. This is new ground for the Ags in these rankings, but it looks like they may be here for an extended stay.
