Power ranking the SEC after week 11: #5 - Georgia

Every time Georgia stumbled or stubbed their toe this season, they dropped ever so slightly in these rankings. However, something felt pretty different about this one.

Of course, you have the fact that it was actually a loss. That obviously matters quite a lot in something like this.

But it wasn’t just a loss—it was an extremely convincing one. The Rebels, who had been a team that was completely unable to turn the corner against top-level squads since Kiffin has been at the helm, dictated the terms of the game for every second of the contest following the first drive.

Maybe this is just a perilous schedule getting to the Bulldogs. Maybe it’s Carson Beck’s strange dip in quality of play coming home to roost. Maybe it’s a lot of things all combining.

But the Bulldogs are now in a position where they no longer control their own destiny for the conference championship game. They will likely still be given a favorable spot by the CFP committee, and a win against Tennessee would make it hard to keep them out of the playoff, but there’s some reason for concern here.
