Power ranking the SEC after week 11: #15 - Kentucky

It’s a very close race between UK and OU for the bottom of this ranking, but Kentucky’s win over Ole Miss, as fluky as it seems to be in retrospect, is buoying them from being bottom-feeders in the final analysis.

The Wildcats are in a pretty bad way, though, and things don’t get a whole heck of a lot easier to close the year. They get Murray State coming out of the bye, which will be a nice bounce back win, but then they close at Texas and home against Louisville.

They need to sweep that two-game stretch to get a bowl berth. After going into their initial bye at 3-2 with losses only to South Carolina and UGA, making a bowl seemed to be an inevitability, but they are now well less than 50% likely to do it.

There will no doubt be some uncomfortable conversations around Mark Stoops’s job status going forward into the offseason, especially in light of his near-exit last offseason. That is, unless we see a highly unlikely three-game win streak to close the year.
