Power ranking the SEC after week 12: #15 - Kentucky

Kentucky finally got a respite from their four-game losing streak with a win over lowly Murray State. That was a much-needed result for the Wildcats, who are still alive in their search for bowl eligibility.

There’s been a very clear demarcation on offense when Kentucky has played their easy non-conference games and when they’ve played their in-conference foes: the Wildcats have not achieved better than 1.82 points per drive in conference play, and have not had worse than 3.89 points per drive in their easy non-conference games.

That’s unsurprising in one way, of course, but you don’t often see things contrasted that starkly with numbers like this. The bad news for Kentucky is that their final two games are on the road at Texas and home against Louisville.

The Wildcats, of course, have beaten a better team than the Longhorns on the road already this year, but it would be a tall order to do it again. That said, it’s very possible that Texas is looking ahead in this one, so maybe the Wildcats can make some noise against a Longhorn team headed in the wrong direction.
