Power ranking the SEC after week four: 5 - Alabama

The Tide were on a bye this week, but they've picked things up overall since the opening loss to Florida State. It helps that FSU themselves have looked like an absolute truck since that point and Alabama has won decisively in games they're supposed to, but the mood in Tuscaloosa is a little bit better right now than it was after the opening day of the season.

That mood could skyrocket if Kalen DeBoer's squad is able to roll into Sanford Stadium next week and knock off the Georgia Bulldogs. That's obviously a tall task, but Georgia has obviously had an Alabama problem that now stretches two tenures with the loss last year in Tuscaloosa.

The late excitement of that game overshadows the fact that it looked like Bama was going to run away with things early. Carson Beck was able to get his team back in the mix, but he's down in Coral Gables now, not in Athens. An early, convincing lead for the Tide could be tougher for Georgia to overcome— that said, they just did it last week up at Tennessee.

Ty Simpson has looked wildly improved since that first game, but he also hasn't faced significant pressure since then in the pocket. If there's one thing Georgia will be able to do, it's generate pressure, so he'll be in a similar spot to what he was that first weekend. We'll see just how improved he actually is.
