Power ranking the SEC after week four: 10 - South Carolina

The Gamecocks put up a good fight in the less southern therefore less good Columbia, but it wasn't enough to take down the Tigers. All of the same issues that have been there since week one continue to manifest with this team: an inability to gain yardage in the designed run game, a far-too-leaky defensive front, and offensive droughts.

To his credit, LaNorris Sellers did everything he could to keep the Gamecocks in this one. He made some of the best throws he has ever done in this game, but it wasn't enough to get it done.

This isn't even to mention the penalties. The Gamecocks were flagged fourteen times, often for procedural penalties, which all but doomed their chances. More than once, a flag was thrown on a key down, costing Carolina yardage in pivotal moments.

Because of the immense talent at quarterback, receiver, and defensive end, the Gamecocks will win some games that they're not expected to— that's just how football goes sometimes. But I don't think this is a squad that can become more than the sum of its parts like they did last year, which is a disappointment for Carolina fans.
