Power ranking the SEC after Week 5 - 7: Ole Miss

This was the first big hurdle for Lane Kiffin and company, and they passed in a big way. Down to a backup quarterback in Trinidad Chambliss, the Rebels were able to muscle past a highly-regarded LSU defense to produce almost 500 yards of offense, nearly doubling the Tigers’ yardage.

This was a statement for the Rebels. It’s not the toughest schedule that Kiffin’s crew faces this year, so they needed to get this one— and they did. With Florida flagging and Oklahoma possibly missing Mateer, it looks like a lot will come down to the Georgia game for Ole Miss this year.

This game should pretty easily vault the Rebels into the top 10. Last year, their problem was in the games that no one thought they would lose, though— we’ll see just how locked in they actually are over these next few weeks.

For now, though, the Rebs have a bye week to rest and recuperate before they get a visit from one-half of the current PAC-12. Washington State will be an interesting matchup, but it’s one that Ole Miss should handle.
