Power ranking the SEC after Week 5 - 6: Missouri

The Tigers continue their SIX GAME OPENING HOMESTAND with a win over UMass. No win over UMass will do too much when it comes to these power rankings, but for what it's worth, this one in particular was pretty meh.

They ended up winning the game 42-6, but that's exactly what you're supposed to do to a team like UMass when you are a team like Missouri. The Minutemen were nigh incapable of moving the ball in any real capacity outside of their first drive, but they at least got some exercise and fresh air.

Drinkwitz's team will get a bye before hosting the Alabama Crimson Tide on October 11 at noon. If they can topple the Tide, it will announce them as a real championship contender this year rather than a just-pretty-good team, which is about what they've been over the last few years.

I wouldn't discount that possibility, in all honesty. We all know this DeBoer program is not quite as impervious to that kind of upset as they were under Saban, and it could be a letdown spot after the win over Georgia— that's certainly happened before.
