Power ranking the SEC after week 6 - 2: Alabama

This looked like it would be another complete gut-check for the Crimson Tide after Vanderbilt went up 14-7 early in the game, but Alabama got things back together and began to flex their talent. This is how this matchup should have looked last year, and it’s encouraging for Alabama fans that they did so this season.

Yes, it is just Vanderbilt, but Diego Pavia’s Vanderbilt is a different animal, as we’ve all seen. It took a lot of guts and patience to win a game like this, thanks to the style of offense that Vandy runs— one that will take advantage of any lack of discipline by your defense.

And yet Alabama stayed disciplined for most of the day, forcing Pavia himself to make a few mistakes along the way. That ended up being key for the Tide to win the day, as they pulled away at game’s end to make things look emphatic.

Alabama now has another challenge this upcoming weekend as they venture to Columbia to take on Missouri. This will be a good litmus test for both programs, as Missouri certainly has their own grand designs for this season as well. Luckily for Alabama, the game is going to be at 11 AM.
