Power ranking the SEC after week 6 - 13: Arkansas

The Hogs were idle this week, but there's a lot changing up in Fayetteville. No sooner did Bobby Petrino take the job as interim head coach than he began to make wholesale changes to the coaching staff, including firing a majority of his personnel on the defensive side of the ball.

That's a bit of a gamble, but you see the logic: if things go well, he's a genius who knew what needed to be done, but if they go poorly, well, how can you blame a guy who was dealing with so much change in the middle of the season? It's quite the gambit, but it's one that makes a lot of sense.

What it may not do, of course, is help them win this season. It would be tough to be worse than the Arkansas defense was to start off the year, but never say never! It's possible that they drop off of a cliff after this— midseason coordinator changes usually don't result in great returns.

Petrino and the Hogs head to Knoxville this week to take on the Tennessee Volunteers, who they upset in Fayetteville last year. Prospects are not exactly bright to knock off Aguilar and the Vols, but if the Hogs get them into a shootout, anything could happen.
