Power ranking the SEC after week 7: 11 - Florida
So why are the Gators moving up after getting dominated in College Station? Well, for whatever else we've seen out of Billy Napier's crew, I think it's clearly the case that some of the offensive issues that were plaguing them to start the season have been taken care of.
Lagway threw five interceptions against the LSU Tigers in large part because the Gators refused to run the ball. Now, they've become much more committed to giving the rock to Jadan Baugh, as they well should be, and Lagway looks significantly more comfortable than he did.
Just look at the first few drives that he put together on the Aggies' defense. That's been one of the best units in coverage since SEC play began, and he was putting the ball in perfect position for his receivers. As the game went on and the pressure mounted from A&M's defensive front, he got hurried up, but those first couple of drives from Florida shows why so many people were high on them to enter the season.
I don't think that win over Texas was a fluke by any means, either, so you have to give the Gators at least that level of respect. This is a tough row to hoe ahead of them, and their head man could be out the door soon, but right now, I think this is a team who is figuring a few things out.
