Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #7 - Ole Miss

Yes, I still have the Rebels ahead of the Tigers. They’ve limped into their bye, losing two out of their last three and managing only 17, 27, and 23 points in regulation of those games, but I still think they’re a better team than LSU—despite the result on Saturday.

The Rebs still have a pretty good defense, even if they began to play a little undisciplined down the stretch on Saturday. The offense is beginning to struggle, though, in a little bit of a concerning fashion.

The run game has not quite been what it was when Quinshon Judkins was in Oxford, a fact which casts a much different light on Ole Miss’s decision to call their former star RB’s bluff this past offseason. There’s no true star back for the Rebels this year.

After managing 6+ yards per carry in the first four games of the year, Ole Miss has only broken 4 YPC once—this previous game against LSU. Now at 5-2, with what most regarded as a pillow-soft schedule coming into the year, they have no more room for error if they wish to make the College Football Playoff.
