Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #1 - Texas A&M
Why not?
We need a larger body of work, to be sure. But it looks more and more like A&M’s performance against Missouri—efficient and explosive on offense, and suffocating on defense—is one of the most complete and dominant games we’ve seen out of any squad in the nation this year.
They have to follow it up with some more big games, no doubt. But it’s encouraging that, upon Weigman’s return, the Aggies looked so dominant against a quality team.
Again, there is more that has to be shown. But if that Mizzou game showed what the Aggies are going forward, there are almost no holes in this team—and those holes that are present are at spots that have been improving every single week.
It’s looking more and more like the Ags may have the best defense in the conference, with down years in Athens and Tuscaloosa. They’re certainly more tested in that respect than others who may lay claim to that title. If the offense can keep up what they did against Mizzou, this Aggie team could be a conference title contender in year one under Mike Elko.
